African women represent a major labour force in agriculture, yet, in sub-Saharan Africa, they own an average of just 15% of the land they cultivate.
It’s time to put an end to this unbearable injustice!
On October 15th, International Rural Women’s Day, rural women from across Africa are getting together for a historic moment at the base of Kilimanjaro to claim their rights to land. And some will even climb the peak itself as a symbol of their determination to be heard.
Across West Africa on the same day, rural women in Ghana, Nigeria, Burkina Faso, Senegal, Niger and Mauritania will all mobilise, demanding #MyLandMyLife.
